Nobel Prize week is finally over. With the Nobel Prize for Physics being shared between Serge Haroche and David Wineland for establishing measuring and manipulation methods of Quantum systems. Though I regret that perhaps I should have made a bet with my Professor who stated the prize would go to Higgs or CERN for the 'God Particle' but I argued that scientific community or more specifically the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences would not dare to award any discovery prematurely, least it be proved as a hoax.

But the real stunning surprise was the Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to European Union. Honestly first Obama and now, of all the people and organisations, EU?!?!

The official Peace Prize site states that this award is awarded to whosoever

shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses

I fail to see how the EU satisfies those conditions. In recent years EU has been the single most source for the crisis around the globe  and still keeps to do so. Aside from the financial problems EU is suffering from that is subsequently affecting the global economies, EU also faces the problem with it integrity; Greece Bailout. I personally feel giving this prize to EU is like making its moniker on its face.

The peace prize to Obama and EU begs a question as to why wont the prize be award to CERN? I will probably write a article on this, if I can find time:)
